ISRAEL 2022: DAY 10
Jordan River, BeitShe’an, Soosita
How many baptisms has the Jordan River witnessed? For thousands of years, people have stepped into that water and made the earnest promise to serve the Lord. Today, I stepped in also, and I reaffirmed my commitment to God. And since it wasn’t my baptism per se, I thought it seemed a good time to remember the cloud of witnesses that I could see…and those whom I cannot see. Todd and Colton were first to my mind, but many other faces followed. The Hebrew word for remembering is “zakar,” and the first one to zakar was God. What a beautiful reminder of our call to love…and remember…one another.
“But God remembered Noah and all the wild animals and the livestock that were with him in the ark, and he sent a wind over the earth, and the waters receded” (Genesis 8:1).
