ISRAEL 2022: DAY 13
Jerusalem Temple
The dark-colored dome of Al-Aqsa Mosque is perched upon the stones of time. The mosque is a Muslim holy site that remains in the custody of Jordanians; they will never allow archeological excavations. The mosque’s foundation rests atop the huge quarried blocks of empires–Ottoman, Byzantium–and then Herod the Great’s architecture peers out at ground level. Herod ruled when Jesus was born and when the Jewish Temple still stood. The temple fell to the Romans in 70AD, and the top Muslim crust now entombs it. Thankfully, God moved out before that happened. After Christ’s resurrection, Pentecost/Shavuot became God’s moving day, and people were invited to be the temple of the living God. The Church breathed deeply and blanketed the world.
“Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them” (Acts 2:2-3).
