Look closely dead center of the 1st pic and spot the Nubian Ibex on the face of the cliff. There’s only 3000 in the world and half live here. It’s a wild, desolate place to eek out a life. Unlike the ibex, we are just temporary newcomers…volunteering to feel the blaze of the sun on our skin…to hear the scorched rocks crunch beneath our feet…to wonder about those Hebrews who crossed it more than 3000 years ago. No, we are surely not ibex; for us, only solidarity will allow for human survival in these challenging wildernesses. Community.
